It's Booksmas!
Hi Readers!
The holidays have snuck up once again, bringing with them all the cheer, all the fun, all the madness and stress… Seems like 2025 has both flown past and lasted forever all at the same time. So much is going on around us that we sometimes forget to just sit and breathe. I know that’s true for me. I’ve noticed that as I age, (just celebrated my 57th last Monday), the things that used to be important aren’t important anymore, and the rest that I thought were luxuries, like sleeping in late, throwing a schedule out the window and doing whatever, whenever, and being with my loved ones are the top priorities for not only my well-being, but those around me. I suppose when you write books and get to be your own boss, that makes things easier. You’d think so, anyhow, but what I found out was I’m a taskmaster. I keep myself busy with projects. I put others ahead of myself all the time, and as they say, you can’t fill from an empty cup, so I’m learning to put myself first now and again, just to refuel/recharge. It’s the best advice, really. Take a little time for yourself, especially during the holidays, which are supposed to be fun, but often end up being incredibly stressful.
Changes in my life: I’ve been on a little health journey and it’s going great. I’ve felt better than I have in a long time. Yay, me! My big sister is moving to France in January. This has been her dream for a long time. I’m so excited for her. And yes, this means I can go visit! I’ve never been to France, so it will be a first for me. She’s heading to Nice, at the southern tip, and a hop, skip, and a jump from Italy. In fact, on her last visit, she went to the Ventimiglia Market (a Friday event), and brought back a gorgeous, teal-colored leather purse for my birthday. I proudly show it off on trips to my local H.E.B. grocery store, veterinary appointments, and post office drop offs. Yep, I’m glamorous like that.
I got my first foreign language translation completed by the fabulous Literary Queens. Rescuing Emma is now available in…you guessed it…FRENCH! Il faut retrouver Emma hit the French market in July and is doing well. Now I have to get the other 6 books translated. Oof!
I’m about the embark on a DIY project of resurfacing my mom’s bathroom vanity. I don’t know how I got elected for this job. She says it’s because I’m the artsy one. I said painting art and doing manual labor are two entirely different things. I lost the argument. Apparently, my ability to read instructions and learn from YouTube videos got me into this. The things we do for our mom’s, right?
I’ve finally made good headway on the next Green Beret book and hope to have it out by summer 2026. Perhaps sooner. Burnout is a real thing, and it goes back to that analogy about being an empty cup. I had to recharge/refuel.
Now that we’re headed into the final weeks of 2025, I wanted to give everyone some Kindle stuffers. I’m having a big ole $0.99 cent sale on the Green Beret series.
